 The Jewel and the Comet by Tim Pratt

Once this book gets going it's is a fun, well paced space opera of a novel. The characters (human and  non) are interesting and I liked Gwen/Glenn and Vivy. As other reviewers have stated there is a bit of sex mentioned so if that's not your thing then maybe not the book for you. Once I got into the book I found it to be enjoyable and as it's the first of Pratt's books I have read I would be eager to read the earlier ones. This book has the typical sci fi tropes with hero's and villains and the multiverse is a well established trope at this point. Book Review. And He Shall Appear by Kate van der Borgh

 Book Review. And He Shall Appear by Kate van der Borgh A haunting novel, perfect for fans of dark academia. A tale of a friendship with a slice of obsession. It alternates between two time periods and does that really well. The characters are interesting and well written and they develop through the novel. Its a tricky one to categorize without giving too much away, An enjoyable read perfect for a dark winters night. Thanks to the publishers and to Netgalley for this ARC.

Book review: How Magicians Think Misdirection, Deception, and Why Magic Matters by Joshua Jay

 Hello you ! Another book review today. I have just finished reading How Magicians Think Misdirection, Deception, and Why Magic Matters by Joshua Jay. Thanks to the Workman Publishing Company and Netgalley for letting me review this book.  The reason I chose this book is because I'm a big fan of magic, I cannot perform any tricks but I enjoy reading about the history. This book is very well written and comprises of several short essays. I'm a fan of Penn & Teller and Mr. Jay quotes Teller, along with various other magicians and it's really enjoyable to read. Mr. Jay is himself a magician with a clear love of the craft and it is interesting to read his essays. The book looks into how the magician performs their craft, takes us behind the curtain and examines the methods behind the tricks while not revealing the tricks.
