Thought Corridor

 A World Apart by Meghan Nesmith I really enjoyed this book, the characters and the world building are really well done. It's a cosy read with a lot of heart. I'm always a fan of books that have that 'love at first sight' trope and  Kit and Wilfrith have a great chemistry and its such a romantic book with a detailed historical setting with fantastical elements. Nesmith writes beautifully and the book was a joy to read.  There is a cliffhanger so be warned if you only like to read completed book series' but as this book is the first in a two parter I am looking forward to the next one. Don't Call It Art 10 Ways to Create Like a Kid Again  by Austin Kleon This was a nice little book. It had helpful suggestions and inspiration interspersed with little bits of advice on how to embrace our inner child, to think back to a time when we drew pictures for the fun of it and not to create something that was ''art' As others have said, the format of this book would be better suited to a physical book rather than an ebook but it was still readable and enjoyable. It's a short book and I liked the quotes from creatives. Thanks to the author, the publisher, and to Netgalley for this ARC. 

 A Family Affair by Jodi Taylor I'm a huge fan of Jodi Taylor so was delighted by the opportunity to read a new work. I rea;;y enjoyed this book. It's the second in the  Smallhope & Pennyroyal series set in the St Mary's universe and it picks up where the last one left. Loved the humour in this book and the time travel, Taylor is an exceptional writer and the characters feel very real as does the world they inhabit. Cannot wait to read the next one after that ending. Really well plotted and kept me fully engaged throughout.  Country People by Daniel Mason This is the first book by Daniel Mason that I have read. It's a well written book, there are humourous moments with this move to a small town. There are a lot of characters to meet in this book and almost all of them are quirky sometimes to too great a degree and the story weaves around a bit. It was a bit too meandering for my tastes however. I have heard good things about Mason's earlier books so perhaps will give those a go as I did enjoy the writing style but the book was a bit of a trek to get through for me personally.  Ghost Month by Simon Wroe I really liked the premise of this book. I did find it a little slow to start but once it did I enjoyed it.  It is a thought provoking concept and Wroe writes with skill and the writing flows nicely. The stories inside the book are all linked and there's a good cast of characters. As it deals with grief it could be little heavy going for some but I enjoyed it.  Milkteeth by Caitlin Starling It was the cover that first drew me to this book and then when I read the premise I knew I had to request it. It is an interesting and unsettling read. This is one of those books that is heavily character driven and I really liked that. Beatrice as our central character is conflicting and I really liked her.  Some parts are  gory but that is to be expected and I really liked those bits! It is a very atmospheric read, really well plotted and paced. It is a really great take on the vampiric genre and its a far darker read than those I've read before on the subject.  This was the first book I've read by Caitlin Starling and I shall read more.  Thank you to the author, the publishers, and to Netgalley for this ARC. 

 The Lost Spectacular by Zoé Duhaime Like other reviewers have said I also sadly found this book to be a little confusing which was a shame as the premise of the book sounded fascinating. that said it was an enjoyable book, richly detailed but I found it a bit of a struggle at times to keep up with it. Some scenes in the book were entertaining while other passages I had to reread in order to try to follow the story.   Noon and Munro are interesting characters but I would have liked more detailed world building in order to better understand how their world works.   Only One for the Orc by Isabelle Taylor This was the first book with the trope of 'fated mates' that I have read. I enjoyed it. It had a cosy fantasy vibe and I really liked the character of Nick in particular, it took me longer to warm to Vi but that's just my personal preference. It was an enjoyable read and nicely written.  The Comeback by Mel Giedroyc I really like Mel Giedroyc and knew I had to read her book. I find her funny and engaging and the same is largely true for this book. I liked the cast of characters (even if there was a lot of them and I sometimes struggled to remember who was who) revolving around the local theater troupe. It is well written and does feel warm hearted and has some funny moments, its an easy sort of summer read and I enjoyed it  Thank you to the author, the publisher, and to Netgalley for this ARC.   

 Death Writ Large by Susie Dent I have read  Guilty by Definition  and really enjoyed that. Dent's adoration of the English language is one of the things I find so interesting about reading her previous book as she cleverly works linguistics into the plot. As with any good murder mystery there were lots of twists and turns and I found the story to be really engaging and it kept me guessing. The  lexicographer Martha Thornhill is a really interesting and likeable character and this book has the usual eccentric suspects one expects from this genre of murder mysteries. I think I preferred this one to the first book but both are really well written. Thank you to the author, the publisher, and to Netgalley for this ARC. 

  Tales from the Territory by Travis Baldree Absolutely delighted to be once again back in the world of the Legends and Lattes series. I adore those books for their warmth and coziness whilst still having a great plot and interesting characters and detailed worldbuilding. This book is a collection of short stories and has five of them in total focusing on different characters from the Legends and Lattes series. This is a book you read after having read the others in Baldress's series as it helps provide more information on them or adds to their backgrounds. Like other reviewers have said ' Just A Thimbleful ' was probably my favourite of the lot. Thank you to the author, the publishers, and to Netgalley for this ARC.

The Deep and the Drowned by Ian Green This book is the first in a trilogy and it is a really good start to the series. I liked the character of Killian Heroneye in particular and he feels well fleshed out, the world building is really good and I liked the seafaring based setting but the book can be a little confusing at times due to the various character perspectives switching. I understand its the first in a trilogy and it really reads that way as there are lots of things left to be resolved at the books conclusion and this sometimes is unsatisfying for me personally as a reader.
