The Deep and the Drowned by Ian Green

This book is the first in a trilogy and it is a really good start to the series. I liked the character of Killian Heroneye in particular and he feels well fleshed out, the world building is really good and I liked the seafaring based setting but the book can be a little confusing at times due to the various character perspectives switching. I understand its the first in a trilogy and it really reads that way as there are lots of things left to be resolved at the books conclusion and this sometimes is unsatisfying for me personally as a reader. That said, I had a good time with it and will read the next one. Thank you to the author, the publisher, and to Netgalley for this ARC,

   Tyrants and Rogues Understanding the Declaration of Independence  by Robert G. Parkinson This was not a subject I was very familiar with and Parkinson tackles this immense subject in an engaging and informative way, The author places the Declaration of Independence firmly within the context of the Revolutionary War and looks at it in depth. Parkinson is an excellent writer and handles this complex subject really well. It would be must read for those interested in getting to know this particular time in America's past.  Book Review. And He Shall Appear by Kate van der Borgh A haunting novel, perfect for fans of dark academia. A tale of a friendship with a slice of obsession. It alternates between two time periods and does that really well. The characters are interesting and well written and they develop through the novel. Its a tricky one to categorize without giving too much away, An enjoyable read perfect for a dark winters night. Thanks to the publishers and to Netgalley for this ARC.
