Book Review Love Will Tear Us Apart (The Stranger Times Book 3)

I've recently finished reading Love Will Tear Us Apart which is book number 3 in The Stranger Times series by C.K. McDonnell. Huge thanks to the publishers and Netgalley as always. As you may know I have read the first two books in the series and absolutely adored them both. My expectations for this book were therefore high as I'd loved the previous two and this one did not disappoint. We learn more about Vincent and his marriage as in this book we find out how far he will go to save the woman he loves. We learnt in the past book that Vincent did not believe his wife died and, in this book, we find out whether he was right or not. Hannah meanwhile has checked into a spa, sounds lovely? Well, this is the Stranger Times universe, and nothing is ever as it seems. There are cherubs, birds, ghosts, and some things that perhaps are better left in the past. 

This part is slightly irrelevant but it really amused me that the starling had a Welsh accent (I'm also Welsh). 

C.K. McDonnell is my favourite author of the past few years and I really want more books in this series. I love the main cast of characters and am enjoying getting to read more about this alternate Manchester.

Life Hacks For A Little Alien Alice Franklin

  A story for everyone who has ever felt just that little bit different.  The tale of Little Alien is heartwarming and we follow how they navigate the world around them through the book they are trying to understand, it is t old from the second perspective.  When the Alien discovers the unusual Voynich manuscript she becomes convinced that it will explain the mysteries of the world, and ultimately herself too.  .Personally second point of perspective is a little bit tricky to read at times as its not something I overly choose to read. It's a very quick read and does flow well and it is broken at times by footnotes.  Thank you NetGalley as always and to little, Brown and Company for sending this book to review.

Book Review The Great When by Alan Moore

Book Review The Great When by Alan Moore 'Dennis Knuckleyard is a hapless eighteen-year-old who works and lives in a second-hand bookstore. One day, his boss and landlady, Coffin Ada, sends him to retrieve some rare books, one of which, Dennis discovers, should not exist. A London Walk by Rev. Thomas Hampole is a fictitious book that appears in a real novel by another author. Yet A London Walk is physically there in his hands, nonetheless'.   and so begins this fantasy novel. Really great storyline, Moore creates a richly detailed London that draws you in. It is surreal and sarcastic at times with bleak elements too. At times it is a little challenging to read, but the pacing is good despite a slightly slow start. I was only familiar with Moore's graphic novel but this was really good.
