This blog post is going to be on another book. It is Scotland Yard’s Casebook of Serious Crime: Seventy-Five Years of No-Nonsense Policing by Dick Kirby published by Pen & Sword. Huge thanks to them and Netgalley for allowing me to review this one.


Dick Kirby is a former experienced Met detective and it's really interesting to hear his take on these cases. Several years ago I read another of his works, Whitechapel's Sherlock Holmes: The Casebook of Fred Wensley and really enjoyed that one.  In this book Mr. Kirby has chosen a number of cases, some well known others less so and walks us through the various methods used by the police in order to track down the criminals. He is a very engaging narrator and I really enjoyed this book, it is a very engrossing read and fairly easy to read. I would really recommend this book, and will definitely look into more by him. It is perfect for fans of true crime.

Life Hacks For A Little Alien Alice Franklin

  A story for everyone who has ever felt just that little bit different.  The tale of Little Alien is heartwarming and we follow how they navigate the world around them through the book they are trying to understand, it is t old from the second perspective.  When the Alien discovers the unusual Voynich manuscript she becomes convinced that it will explain the mysteries of the world, and ultimately herself too.  .Personally second point of perspective is a little bit tricky to read at times as its not something I overly choose to read. It's a very quick read and does flow well and it is broken at times by footnotes.  Thank you NetGalley as always and to little, Brown and Company for sending this book to review.

Book Review The Great When by Alan Moore

Book Review The Great When by Alan Moore 'Dennis Knuckleyard is a hapless eighteen-year-old who works and lives in a second-hand bookstore. One day, his boss and landlady, Coffin Ada, sends him to retrieve some rare books, one of which, Dennis discovers, should not exist. A London Walk by Rev. Thomas Hampole is a fictitious book that appears in a real novel by another author. Yet A London Walk is physically there in his hands, nonetheless'.   and so begins this fantasy novel. Really great storyline, Moore creates a richly detailed London that draws you in. It is surreal and sarcastic at times with bleak elements too. At times it is a little challenging to read, but the pacing is good despite a slightly slow start. I was only familiar with Moore's graphic novel but this was really good.
