Book Review: Renegade Demon which is book one in the Primal Payne series by Louis Park

Hello you, Two reviews in one day, I have been reading a lot recently. This review is on  Renegade Demon which is book one in the Primal Payne series by  Louis Park   No wonder Dick Payne has problems! Our protagonist is a bit dysfunctional to say the least but he certainly is fun. Its a comedy horror romp and is a very well written book, and revolves around Dick and his fairly ordinary life until he meets a wizard and that's where things really take off. It is a fun filled dark comedy that really hovers around the line and is not afraid to go too far.   There is a lot of coarse language in this book and some low brow jokes and if that is something that bothers you then maybe steer away from this one however I look forward to the next works in this series. Many thanks for allowing me to read a free ARC in return for my voluntary review.

Book Review: Tattoo of Crimson Blood

Hello you, I return again and this time I have been reading Tatto of Crimson Blood by  Sarah Chislon   This book was my first foray into books of this genre. Its termed gaslamp fantasy which I must admit I had never heard of as a genre until this book but its appropriate as this book is a charming blend of fantasy, murder mystery and mythos. The Victorian setting is really well imagined and vividly described. Jessa Caldwell is a very well rounded character and felt real. She tries to maintain a balance of societal expectations in this Victorian world while exploring the mysteries in this book. The ending while tidy does leave scope for the next novel in the series which is very exciting. Looking forward to it immensely! Many thanks for allowing me a free ARC in return for my voluntary review.
