  Hello   again  you, The second  of today's book reviews is for  Death and the Conjuror by Tom Mead. The first line of the description of this book on Net galley absolutely hooked me in. 'A magician-turned-sleuth in pre-war London solves three impossible crimes'.  As a huge fan of whodunits and a passing interest in magic I knew I had to read this one.  It drew me in from the first few pages, I found myself wanting to read more each brief reading session I had. Lots of twists and turns and great characters too,  Spector and Flint. are really interesting characters.. Cannot say too much without spoiling it but its a thoroughly engrossing read.  It is a perfect locked room mystery and a perfect homage to those writers of the golden age of crime fiction.  I look forward to reading more by Tom Mead.  Thank you Penzler Publications/ Mysterious Press and to Net Galley as always for the ARC..

Hello you, This book review is for Shady Hollow by Juneau Black.  I absolutely requested this based solely on the blurb. It was described as ‘Beatrix Potter crossed with Agatha Christie’. While I have not read any Beatrix Potter for some years I used to happily read them in my childhood and as an adult I absolutely adore most type of crime fiction.  This was quite the cosy murder mystery. Completely worlds away from the gritty blood-soaked murder novels that are quite commonplace now.  The anthropomorphic characters were delightful and the book while being fairly short at 200 or so pages is very well written. I would have liked more character development but saying that I would recommend this book and look forward to the next adventures of Vera and co. Many thanks as always to Netgalley and to the publishers for letting me read this book in exchange for my review.

 Hello you, Well, it has been quite a while since this little blog of mine was updated. Life gets in the way I suppose. I will be returning to it again in the coming days and months. I have a few posts I want to write about the Cardiff trip I took in May of this year and to write down some future travel plans.  For now though, the next posts will be book reviews.
